Conor Oberst:Emo Pin-Up

My British friend, Tom, didn't know I was such a sucker for heartfelt, sad songs written by senstive guys when he sent me a tape of Bright Eyes' "A Line Allows Progress, A Circle Does Not". He probably regrets ever sending it to me, because that is all I talk about in my e-mails to him now.

"Tom, Conor's new band, Desaparacidos, is releasing a new album next month."

"Tom, I downloaded a bunch of Bright Eyes rarities today, wanna copy?"

"Tom, he's coming to Pomona. Im going Im going Im going!!!"

Ahhh, there is nothing as sweet as being obsessed.

Conor is worth the attention (ahh, admittedly, I am biased). His voice breaks when he's belting out lyrics like: "When your new eyes meet mine, I'll be pure". Oh, he's so sensitive...so understanding...such a rock star.

And then, about a month into my obsession, I saw his picture. So scruffy. So in need of a hug. He IS the epitome of emo.

I look at Conor-related postings on LiveJournal and and there is always some girl saying she just went up to him, asked if he wanted to make out with her, and it's to the car/alley/back of the club for the rest of the night.

Mmmm. And he's classy too.
